Who
we are
In
May 1972, Pete started selling
produce out of the back of a pick
up truck on Blue Ridge.
In
a couple of years he started selling
a few flats of tomato plants and
geraniums. He also built small
portable covers for his produce
stand. Change was kept in a cigar
box, and sales were added up on
paper sacks.
Sherry
came back into Pete's life, and
they started working together.
More plants were added, and imported
pottery from Mexico and they were
off and on their way.
Originally
called Pete's Market, the little
produce/plant stand purchased
the land, incorporated, and built
a greenhouse. The birth of Blue
Ridge Gardens, Inc.
After
some years, the 200' x 200' lot
was just too small. Plants on
the top of the roof and everywhere
else.
The
search for land to expand began,
and went on and on and on. Finally
land was found and purchased.
Plans were finalized in Belgium
to put up a state of the art glass
greenhouse, and the wait began.
In July 2001, the sea containers
containing the glass greenhouses
from Belgium arrived.
Completion
was in December 2001, and moved
in January 2002 and began preparation
for the 1st spring here.
