Annuals:
Containers:
You
can plant any container you want if you can easily
move it in case of frost/freeze. There is
always that threat throughout the month of April.
Lawn
Care—if you haven’t
used the Hummert with Dimension for crabgrass
prevention do so immediately!. Crabgrass
is the worst thing to have growing in your lawn.
It is so much easier to prevent than get rid of.
Perennials: Some perennial
benefit from cutting them back before they have
gotten very tall. Lythrum and Mums will
get much bushier if pinched back. When Lythrum
is about 8” tall cut it back to 4”. You
only need to do this once. Mums need to
be kept pinched back until July 15, then let them
go ahead and grow and set buds. Make sure
that you have fed all of your perennials by now.
If you have already used the Start n Grow, you
are done for the season. Only a few re-blooming
perennials need a 2nd application of Start n Grow.
Roses:

to give you the best rose your can buy! Add Back
to Nature Rose Bed amendment and use Bayer Advance

3 jobs. Feeds, prevents fungus disease,
and protects against insects.
Shrubs
& Trees: April
is perfect to plant all trees & shrubs.
Mix in Back to Nature Cotton Burr Compost, and
water them in with Mushroom Stuff. This
will get the root system off to a really good
start.

Lawn
Care: Spot weed as need
for broad leaf weeds. Don’t let them get
a good hold, get rid of them. Use Speed
Zone or Weed Free Zone. Either of these
products works well when the temperatures are
cooler. Once it is warm/hot use Trimec,
it works better with the warm temperatures.
